The National Forensic League (NFL) -- founded in 1925 at Ripon College (WI) -- is the leading honor society and educational resource in the exciting field of speech and debate education. With 3,000 member schools and 90,000 active student members, the NFL provides educational opportunities, honors, scholarships, and awards that recognize students at local, regional, and national levels. Rufus King's NFL Chapter has a proud history spanning nearly a quarter-century. In 2005 and 2006, our chapter ascended to membership in the elite "200 Club" for merit/degrees, and had two "All Americans," Eva Lam '06, ranked third, and Samuel Daly '05, ranked 24th (top 25 merit-point earning students in the nation out of 90,000 students in the country). At the 2006 national tournament, Eva Lam '06 won the Congress - Senate championsip and Sarah Hinkfuss '06 won the Extemporaneous Commentary championship (Rufus King was the only school about of about 900 with two national champions out of 17 events). At the 2005 national tournament, Eva Lam '06 won the Congress - House of Representatives championship as well as presiding officer award, and Sam Daly '05 -- a four-year qualifier -- placed 6th in the Senate; Kyle Szarzynski '05 advanced to semi-finals. Overall, our program won a "School of Excellence in Debate Award" for achievement in Student Congress in 2005.
Former Director of Forensics and Rufus King teacher Adam Jacobi -- a King forensics alum -- is now part of the NFL's administrative team as Education/Programs Coordinator at its headquarters in Ripon.
