Joanne Williams is a graduate of Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. She worked as a reporter, writer and weatherperson at WGN-TV in Chicago, returning to Milwaukee in 1972 to anchor Milwaukee's first morning news show at WTMJ-TV. She moved to WITI-TV, FOX 6, in 1979 and now anchors FOX 6 News at Noon every Monday through Friday, bringing the community information on what has happened in Milwaukee and around the world between 9 a.m. and noon.
She is involved in many community activities and is the Regional Director for Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan for the National Association of Black Journalists. That is the largest organization of journalists of color in the world. Her other activities have ranged from being president of the Milwaukee Press Club to reading stories to little children in schools.
She enjoys watching her two sons learn to read and write and to play tennis, a sport she participates in as well.
